A film overflowing with jazz, inspired by the true story of blind piano prodigy, Mietek Kosz. Fulfilled as an artist, adored by the public and critics, in personal life he struggles to find acceptance and happiness.

If not for his untimely death Mietek Kosz, the genius jazz pianist, often referred to as Polish Bill Evans, would have been one of the most famous jazz pianists in the world. His talent was discovered at the young age when he started attending a school for the blind. He would play various melodies on a harmonica for hours and thanks to his tutors who noticed his passion after passing an exam he was admitted to the primary music school for blind children. Upon graduation, he had no problem finding work and played at the most important places on the jazz map of Poland, such as Helikon club as well as student club Pod Jaszczurami or Literacka cafe in Kraków.

In 1967 after his memorable performance at the most important Polish jazz festival - Jazz Jamboree he became famous almost overnight. Hailed as one of the greatest and most original talents in Polish music, he began an international career. Kosz has performed in many European countries and Canada. Unfortunately, his personal life was not as successful. Lonely and dependent on the care of others, he was often taken advantage of. His high earnings attracted the wrong people. The loneliness and the failures led him to alcoholism and gradual withdrawal.

ICARUS. THE LEGEND OF MIETEK KOSZ is the true story of a Polish jazz pianist Mieczyslaw “Mietek" Kosz, who died in tragic circumstances and whose life we see through select episodes depicting the most influential moments in his life and career: his childhood on a poor farm in the farmlands of Poland, the loss of his eyesight at a young age, great successes in his musical career accompanied by his loneliness and desperate need for acceptance.

"Another excellent film by Maciej Pieprzyca and another brilliant role of David Ogrodnik. "Icarus. The Legend of Mietek Kosz ”is not only a moving biography of a blind man and world-class musician, but also a study of loneliness, which stays with the viewer for longer." — Przemyslaw Dobrzynski, Spider's web
