Inspired by a short story by Nobel Prize-winning author Olga Tokarczuk, Winter of the Crow, starring Academy Award nominee and Tony Award winner Lesley Manville (The Crown, Phantom Thread), is a gripping political thriller set on the eve of the declaration of martial law in Poland.​​

British psychiatrist Joan Andrews arrives in Warsaw to attend an international conference. When the young woman who was meant to look after her disappears, Joan finds herself stranded in a city transformed overnight by military rule. With tanks in the streets, phones cut off and uncertainty everywhere, her attempts to find out what has happened draw her into an increasingly dangerous world of surveillance, secrecy and political intrigue. 

Against the backdrop of one of the most turbulent moments in modern Polish history, the film explores the fragility of freedom and the extraordinary choices ordinary people are forced to make when history turns dangerous.

Polish film and television director and visual artist. Born in Warsaw in 1972, she is the daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Agnieszka Holland. Adamik began her career working in animation and visual arts before moving into directing. She has directed numerous films and television series in Poland and internationally, including Bark!, The Offsiders, Janosik: A True Story and Amok, Spoor.
