A delightful adaptation of the award-winning book by Anna Onichimowska under the same title takes us on the adventures of Monika and Dawid. 8-year-old Dawid watches Monika, a new neighbour move into the house next door. He is captivated by Monika’s Hawaiian hula skirt, the result of being told her grandmother has moved to Hawaii. It soon turns out that Dawid and Monika have something in common – they share a secret. They also share an adventure as together they discover a mysterious world inhabited by creatures that devour Mondays, Tuesdays and other days of the week. They’re also going to face the evil witch who steals precious memories from children. They’re going to uncover the mystery of the old clock and wake up the Time Hopper, who will help them cross the gate to a place where time rules are completely different... Will they manage to make their dream come true and go back in time?

THE DAY OF CHOCOLATE won the Cannes’ Krzysztof Kieslowski ScripTeast Award 2010, a project supporting young Central and Eastern European screenwriters. The decision to award the prize reasoned that the film tells with great sensitivity and lively imagination an enchanting story about a seemingly difficult topic: how children react to death.
