SPOOR

The 2017 Berlinale Silver Bear-winning wintery thriller by the renowned three-time Oscar nominated director, Agnieszka Holland. The script is based on the novel very well known in Poland as well as in many other countries “Drive Your Plough Over the Bones of the Dead” by Polish author Olga Tokarczuk.

An eccentric part-time English teacher and an animal rights defender, Janina Duszejko, who lives in a small town in the Polish mountains loses her two beloved dogs. A few months later she stumbles upon the dead body of her neighbour, a poacher. The only traces leading to the mysterious death are those of roe deer hooves… As time goes by, more grisly, and equally mysterious, killings are discovered. All victims were passionate hunters who knew each other very well. The police investigation proves ineffective. Duszejko has her own theory that the deaths could have been the animals’ revenge…
