A witty and masterfully crafted exploration of love, ego, and the fragile architecture of marriage, set against the backdrop of the eccentric world of theatre — where a narcissistic actor’s collapsing personal life eerily mirrors the roles he plays on stage.

SEASONS is a story about two people who find it just as hard to live together as they do to part ways. The action unfolds across three different performances—where the characters’ private lives intertwine with onstage reality, and intense emotions are accompanied by unexpected humour.

A self-absorbed stage actor Marcin (Łukasz Simlat) is blindsided by the unexpected collapse of his long-term relationship with fellow actress Ola (Agnieszka Dulęba-Kasza). After years of silent unhappiness, Ola decides to finally tell Marcin how she feels and file for a divorce. Unable to accept the breakup, Marcin drags the entire theatre company into his emotional unravelling. The gradual breakdown of the marriage is staged like the flow of seasons in the theatre playing out across three productions — Peter Pan, A Doll’s House and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Grzybowski’s film was one of the standout discoveries at the 2024 Gdynia Film Festival. Brilliantly written and cleverly directed, it’s elevated by a tour de force of performances, both lead and supporting.

"The acting, script, humour, cinematography – absolutely everything here is more than spot on: perfectly balanced, seasoned with both bitterness and sweetness. The only thing left to say is: “What a film!” – and follow it with “What a…!” about everything else, because one article may simply not be enough to praise this film in full." — Off Camera, Film Review

"This film is a showcase of acting — not only the lead roles are outstanding." — Interia
