POSTER - EVERYONE HAS A SUMMER.jpg

Summer holidays. Rebellious Agata comes to a small town to cook at a church-run camp for girls. 17-year-old Mirek falls in love with her, while his grandfather – who suffers from dementia – sees in her his long-gone lover. Mirek makes a bet with his friends and uses his grandfather to get closer to Agata. As they explore their relationship, they uncover a carefully guarded family secret.

Mirek (Nicolas Przygoda), a teenager employed in the butcher’s department of a supermarket in the small town of Trzebinia, leads a rather uneventful life. He lives with his conservative mother (Anita Poddębniak) and his dementia-afflicted grandpa (Maciej Grzybowski). The eternal routine is disrupted by the arrival of rebellious Agata who comes to the town to work as a cook at a religious camp for girls run by his mother. The boy instantly is smitten with Agata who remains ambivalent about his advances. Mirek makes a bet with his friends that he will seduce her. At the same time, his grandfather recognises her as his long-lost lover. Mirek uses his grandfather to get closer to Agata, but as they explore their relationship further, they will lift the lid on a carefully guarded family secret.

"Jurkiewicz’s film has its own beguiling everyday magic. This modest small-town-set charmer, the debut fiction feature of its director, operates with a stealth subversiveness that proves all the more refreshing.Working from a script co-written with Piotr Janusz, Jurkiewicz holds the characters nicely in balance throughout and allows them to confound our expectations" — Alex Ramon, Filmint.
