The latest comedy from producers of award-winning films CARTE BLANCHE and THE LAST FAMILY, both presented at the Polish Film Festival in Perth in previous years. The film is a humorous story of modern men in their thirties and their youthful dreams of conquering the music world that unexpectedly may come true many years after their metal band Exterminator dissolved. It is based on a hit theatre play.

A group of five devoted friends shared a great dream when they were young – to rock the Polish metal scene and attract crowds to their concerts. All this under the flag of an ominously named band Exterminator. Many years later youthful ambitions are long forgotten until one day the mayor, a great fan of Exterminator back in the day, makes an offer too good to turn down – reactivate the band with a grant from their town. As with all great offers, there is a catch.

Marcyś (Paweł Domagała), the band’s leader who now works in his father’s store, is going through a relationship crisis with his girlfriend Magda (Agnieszka Więdłocha). Guitar virtuoso Lizzy (Piotr Żurawski) is a rank-and-file bank employee while bass player Jaromir (Krzysztof Czeczot) punches his time card in a foam factory and tries hard to live up to the responsibilities of a being a father. Drummer Makar (Piotr Rogucki) is in a mental institution. They all meet at the funeral of the fifth member of the band Cypek, and reminisce about the good old times of Exterminator. Unexpectedly, the mayor of their town, a great fan of Exterminator back in the day, offers Marcyś a significant amount of money to reactivate the band and play concerts to the local audience. Soon it turns out there is a catch. Musicians have to betray their ideals and appear at a number of fairs, playing songs quite distant from their usual repertoire.

Michał Rogalski’s comedy with screenplay by Przemek Jurek is an adaptation of novel “Kochanowo and neighbourhood” and theatre play “Exterminator”.
